When planning your wedding, you’ll have to think about many different parts of your day such as prep/ getting ready, the ceremony, where to take your portraits, and of course, the reception. There are many important benefits to consider having your whole day in one location. From my experience, these are some good pointers for you to consider!
Your wedding day WILL be one of the most fun, exciting, and memorable days of your life. It can also be very stressful, but there are ways to eliminate as much of that stress as possible! By having all of your formalities in one location, you eliminate the stress of traveling from location to location. It’s often that while planning your day you’ll allow time to get from the hotel where you’re getting ready to the park for portraits, but you might not have considered that it’s going to be a weekend in the summer when a lot of people are traveling and traffic can easily double that travel time. This is also real life, where things happen. Factors like this can delay your perfect day from getting underway.
If you have all of your formalities at the venue, you’ll have more leisure time together. More time laughing with loved ones and sharing memories. Having that extra hour that you set aside for travel will allow time for other enjoyable things throughout your day. That time is likely better spent on portraits with your spouse and not having to rush before your ceremony. (This will also save you some cash on not having to hire a car to drive you around all day!) Throughout the wedding planning process, this will make everything so much easier!
Wouldn’t it be convenient for you to check in on the ceremony right outside your window if you need to? Or consult the florist in the reception room on an opinion for the centerpieces just in the other room? Having everything so close to you is SUCH a luxury on your wedding day.
This may sound obvious, but having everything for your wedding day under one roof is a convenience that you’ll HIGHLY appreciate! All your guests have one address and it’s easy for them. Little details like this can make all the difference for you.
If you’re having everything in one location and don’t have your own wedding coordinator, the venue will likely provide a bridal attendant who will help you in EVERY way possible. Having this person with you all day is priceless and can make a massive difference in how smoothly things go throughout the day. These bridal attendants are professionals who have done this a million times at your venue, so they’re extremely familiar with the run of show and likely know it better than anyone else. It’s nice having someone help keep you on schedule and make sure everything goes to plan from start to finish.
You know how the old saying goes, “Time is money!” Well, this goes hand in hand with this topic. We’ve already spoken about how you can save time by not having to travel from location to location on your wedding day, but this almost directly translates into saving money on your vendors.
A lot of vendors’ rates go by the hour or add on travel time. For me, I can usually get everything I need for a wedding video within an 8-hour time span, which is what 80% of my bookings include. If you add travel time on top of that, it can easily become a 9-10 hour day in some cases, which means additional costs outside of your wedding package. I know most photographers work like this. Florists have to deliver flowers from the prep location to the ceremony, and then to the venue. It becomes an all-day thing for them instead of just delivering the flowers to one place. At the end of the day, little things like this add up and can save you big money between all of your vendors.
Not all weddings are the same, and this might not be the best option for you, but that’s what makes you and your wedding special. However, throughout your wedding planning, this is something to consider. I’ve spoken to many couples over the years who haven’t considered these factors, and it can make all the difference in the flow of your day!
